David Harold McCormick (born August 17, 1965) is an American politician and businessman who is a United States Senator-elect from Pennsylvania. He served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Bridgewater Associates, one of the world's largest hedge funds, from 2020 to 2022. McCormick received the Bronze Star while serving in the 82nd Airborne Division during a combat deployment to Iraq in 1991. A member of the Republican Party, McCormick served as Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs from 2007 to 2009. He first ran for Senate in 2022, losing the Republican primary to Mehmet Oz by fewer than 1,000 votes. McCormick ran for Senate again in 2024, and won the Republican nomination unopposed. He narrowly defeated three-term Democratic incumbent Bob Casey Jr. in the general election in what was widely characterized as an upset.
