- Work cat.: Soleglad, M.E. The systematic position of the scorpion genera Heteroscorpion Birula, 1903 and Urodacus Peters, 1861 (Scorpiones:Scorpionoidea), 2005:summary (Hemiscorpiidae Pocock, 1893 is accepted as a senior synonym of Liochelidae, and Hormurinae Laurie, 1896, as a senior synonym of Liochelinae. The subfamily Heteroscorpioninae is transferred to Hemiscorpiidae. As a result, the superfamily Scorpionoidea currently includes three families: Bothriuridae (with two subfamilies, Bothriurinae and Lisposominae), Hemiscorpiidae (with three subfamilies, Hemiscorpiinae, Heteroscorpioninae, and Hormurinae), and Scorpionidae (with three subfamilies, Diplocentrinae, Scorpioninae, and Urodacinae)) p. 2 (Hemiscorpiidae (formerly Ischnuridae)) p. 35 (Hemiscorpiidae Pocock, 1893, new status (a valid family name) = Hadogenidae Lourenço, 1999, new synonymy; = Liochelidae Fet & Bechly, 2001, new synonymy; Heteroscorpioninae Kraepelin, 1905 (a valid subfamily name): transferred to Hemiscorpiidae Pocock, 1893)
- The scorpion files, via WWW, Apr. 18, 2005(Family Hemiscorpiidae. This family has previously been known as Ischnuridae Simon, 1879, but in ICZN. 2003, Opinion 2037 (cases 3120 and 3120a), the name has been changed to Liochelidae Fet & Bechly, 2001. In 2005, Soleglad, Fet & Kovarik changed the name to Hemiscorpiidae, and included the genus Heteroscorpion (from the abolished family Urodacidae) in addition to all genera and species previously included in Liochelidae; hemiscorpiid scorpions)

Wikipedia description:
Hemiscorpius is the sole genus of the scorpion family Hemiscorpiidae, with about 16 described species. Before Hemiscorpiidae, the term used for the family was Ischnuridae, which had to be changed due to a naming conflict with the damselfly family of the same name. They at one point also held the name Liochelidae. In 2015, research on the evolution, biogeography and phylogeny of the families Hormuridae, Hemiscorpiidae, and Heteroscorpionidae left Hemiscorpiidae with a single genus, Hemiscorpius, the remaining 15 merged or transferred to other families.
