Orono ( ORR-ə-noh, ORR-noh) is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It is situated west of Minneapolis on the north shore of Lake Minnetonka. Orono is an affluent municipality that ranks as one of the wealthiest cities in the state. The population was 7,437 at the 2010 census. Orono is in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area.
