- Wikipedia, July 26, 2008(Cormohipparion is a genus of extinct horse from the Miocene and Pliocene. Cormohipparion arose in North America, along with related genera of three-toed horses (Nannippus, Neohipparion, Pseudhipparion). Approximately 11 ma, a species of Cormohipparion, possibly C. fricki or a close relative, migrated across Beringia to reach the Old World. At the time, advanced horses were absent from the Old World, and Cormohipparion gave rise to a radiation of horses placed in several genera (Cremohipparion, Eurygnathohippus, Hipparion, Hippotherium, Plesiohipparion, Proboscidipparion).)
