"מהי צפייה בסרטים? מה סרטים מראים? מה הם לא מראים ומדוע? מה חושבים סרטים על צופים? מה חושבים צופים על סרטים? איך הפך שעמום לכלי מבע בארגז הכלים של רבים (וטובים) מקולנועני זמננו? איך נהפכו סרטי הפריפריה העולמית (כמו רומניה, איראן, טאיוואן, מקסיקו וגם ישראל) למחדשי סגנונות בקולנוע העולמי? מישהו אמר פעם: "עוד לא קרה ששני אנשים קראו אותו ספר". אמירה זו בוודאי טובה לספרות, שבה הקורא נדרש לדמיין את העולם המוצג במילים. קולנוע מציג לכאורה עולם מן המוכן, ורק מזמין לצפות ולהאזין לו. אלא שכמעט מראשית הקולנוע, ובמיוחד בעשורים האחרונים, סרטים מרשים לעצמם לא להראות ולא להשמיע. על רבים מאוד מהסרטים שבהם דן מעשי צפייה אפשר לומר: "עוד לא קרה ששני אנשים ראו אותו סרט". כשמו, זהו חיבור על צפייה"-- מן האתר של ההוצאה.
