	השיר נכתב על ידי הלהקה האמריקנית "בני הרבנים"("The Rabbis sons") ויצא בתקליטם "הללו" בשנת 1967. כל הלחנים בתקליט הולחנו על ידי מייסד הלהקה ברוך חייט שכינס את ארבעה תלמידים לרבנות ללהקה. נחמה הנדל ושולי נתן היו הזמרות הישראליות הראשונות שהקליטו אותו יחד והוא זכה לביצועים רבים לאחר מכן.
