  • השיר "שעון בן חיל" התפרסם לראשונה בגרסה קצת שונה מהגרסה המוכרת לנו כיום ב"גליונות לגננות". זה היה מעין ידיעון שהוציא לוין קיפניס בשיתוף עם התאחדות הגננות, המלא בשירים, סיפורים ותווים שיועילו לגננת הישראלית בעבודתה. בפרסום זה השיר נקרא "השעונים". קיפניס מציין שם כי השיר הוא "על פי שיר גרמני".
    את הלחן המוכר לנו כיום חיבר משה וילנסקי בשנת 1939 עבור המחזה "הדובון והזאב השודד" ופורסם בשנת 1940. השיר התפרסם בביצועה של שושנה דמארי.
