"נכתב ב-1976 לחגיגת הזמר שנערכה במוצאי יום העצמאות תשל"ו והחליפה באותה שנה את פסטיבל הזמר התחרותי. מארגני המופע פנו ליוצרים ששיתפו פעולה בעבר וביקשו מהם לכתוב שוב יחד שיר חדש למופע. רחל שפירא ויאיר רוזנבלום, שלא כתבו יחד מאז "מה אברך", שבו לשתף פעולה במסגרת זו ויצרו את "שיר של יום חולין", שבוצע באותו מופע על ידי אילנית."
