| את מילות השיר כתב חפר בתחילת מלחמת העצמאות על פי מנגינת השיר "השיר אלייך" של מרדכי זעירא. בסוף 1948 הלחין משה וילנסקי לחן חדש לשיר ושושנה דמארי הקליטה אותו לראשונה בלחנו החדש כעבור שנתיים. |
