Description Relates to the nature of man as described in diaries written during the war (Anne Frank, Chaim Kaplan), and in analyses after the war - in psychology (Victor Frankl), in philosophy (Jean Améry, Primo Levi), and in historiography (Saul Friedländer). Posits a difference between the two conditions of crisis and trauma. Crisis leaves space for eventual hope via autobiographical redemption
trauma does not.
