Primary Sources

Primary sources are authentic, first-hand documents like newspapers, letters, photographs, articles, and etc created at the time under study. They can give us a real glimpse into history, because they weren't intentionally made for future generations to analyze. They present the past as it is. Include unique primary sources from the NLI’s collections in your teaching to make it more engaging!
