Title The secret passion of the new antisemitism.
Host Item Azure
Ideas for the Jewish Nation 45 (2011) 15-29
Description Contends that, while the new antisemitism seeks to delegitimize the Jewish nation, it also strives to uphold the moral values that the Jews are supposed to represent. Presents a brief history of Greek, Christian, and modern antisemitism, noting that, unlike the earlier antisemites, the new left-wing antisemites view ethnic and religious differences favorably and believe in acceptance of "others". However, this ideology is not applied to the Jews and the State of Israel, because of the ethnocentricity of Zionism. The new antisemites are anti-Zionists who judge Israel by a double standard and use morality to cloak their antisemitism. States that the new antisemitism is not a continuation of the old, but rather a result of post-modern universalism, which upholds the moral values that the Jew is supposed to represent.
