Description

The setting up of the Arbeits Gemeinshaft fur Kinder und Jugend Aliyah and its activities, the Judische Judend Hilfe, training of Youth Aliya wards in countries of the West, selection of children for Youth Aliyah reorganization after "Crystal Night", attitude of the Nazi authorities to the rescue operation, the problem of obtaining certificates, the "Kinder Aliyah", activities in England, allocation of Youth Aliyah funds; problem of education in the Hachshara farms in countries of the West. Born in Germany. Representative of Youth Aliya in Berlin. Immigration to Israel in 1938 after meeting with Eichmann when she found out she was in danger. Reporting in Jerusalem of the condition of Youth Aliya in Berlin. Decision to relocate offices and activities of Youth Aliya to London, and to send interviewee there. Most of office's workers German refugees who foreseen the coming dangers unlike English Jewry who did not realize the gravity of the situation. Those German workers (German citizens) becoming "the enemy" during the war and thus their freedom of movement restricted. For that reason English Jews joined the committee (like Vera Weizmann). Report of Youth Aliya's counselling committee of rescue activities. Committee mainly raising funds for upkeep of refugee children, obtaining visas and temporary absorption places, and above all obtaining certificates for immigration to Eretz-Israel. Lack of appropriate absorption places mainly for religious youths. Some ten thousand ; refugees and youths dispersed in England; some sent to big farms, some to institutions, and some to Christian families (that group was lost for the Jewish people).
