Category - Religious life;Description - The rectangular, vertical postcard depicts the Jewish custom of Tekiat Shofar (blowing of the Shofar - a musical instrument made of a ram's horn), which takes place at the synagogue during Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New-Year). The picture presents 3 men, standing under a Gothic arc, and on what may be a Bimah (An elevated area or platform in the synagogue, on which the person reading aloud from the Torah stands during the Torah reading service). The front of the Bimah is decorated with a geometrical motive in which two Stars of David are combined. Beneath it a Hebrew inscription is added: "אשרי העם ידעי הרועה". The man standing in the center is blowing the Shofar, the one on his right is holding a Torah scroll, and the one on the left holds a prayer book. All 3 men wear a tallit - a prayer shawl that is worn;Back Remarks - Was send to Baltimour, Mariland.
