Proclamation of Vincenzo I Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua and Montferrat, in favor of the Jews of Casale, reaffirming the prohibition against baptizing a Jewish child without the consent of at least one parent, as well as the penalties imposed upon violators of the ban (see above, Cat. 393). The requirement to have the bishop of the city investigate the sincerity of any child who wanted to convert against the wishes of his parents was also reaffirmed. The order was issued following complaints by the leaders of the Jewish community of Casale Monferrato. Signed July 18, 1611. With decorative elements. כרוז של וינצ'נו ה-I, דוקס של מנטובה והמונפראטו, לטובת יהודי קאזלה. בכרוז חודש האסור לטבול לנצרות ילד יהודי, ללא הסכמתו של הורה אחד לפחות. הוזכרו גם העונשים המוטלים על מי שיעבור על איסור זה. חודשה גם החובה למסור לבישוף של העיר כל ילד שרצה להתנצר נגד רצון ההורים, על מנת שהבישוף יבדוק אותו ואת כנות רצונו. הכרוז ניתן בעקבות תלונתם של מנהיגי הקהילה היהודית בקזאלה מונפראטו. ניתן ב-18 ביולי 1611. |
