פרסום ראשון של תקנות צנע של קהילת מנטובה, מטעם ועד הקהילה, בעניין מלבושים, תכשיטים,משתאות, נדוניות ועוד, לתקופה של שבע שנים. פורסמו בחדש דצמבר 1598 והיו אמורים להכנס בתוקף מינואר 1599, עם תקופת הסתגלות של שלושה חודשים. חתומים הרבנים עזרא בן יצחק מפאנו, ראובן בן דוד ירא, שמואל בן מצליח מארלי, יהושע חי בן ברוך יאיר וגם סופר הקהילה, שמשון בן ישראל יעקב הכהן. This is the earliest printed collection of sumptuary laws for the Jewish community of Mantua and its environs, governing modesty and moderation with respect to clothing, jewelry, food, etc., for a period of seven years. Though promulgated in December 1598 and scheduled to take effect in January 1599, popular compliance was not required until three months later, in April 1599. Signed by Rabbis Ezra b. Isaac Fano, Reuben Jare b. David Jare of Perugia, Samuel b. Mazliah Arli (of Arles), and Joshua Hai b. Barukh Jair, as well as by the scribe of the community, Samson b. Israel Jacob Cohen. With decorative elements. |
